Devoré

Devore: Devore is the removal of fibres from a fabric. This fabric is woven with two types of fibre, this is then removed by the application of a chemical paste leaving the other fibre behind leaving a pattern that you have created by using a screen. I used the Devore technique with my screen I used for screen printing.This image shows the piece of fabric I used to Devore on to, I chose the Ateza fabric as this is a fabric that can be used for Devore. Once I had Devore onto my peice of fabric I heat pressed it then dyed it the darker areas on the fabric are where the Devore didn't transfer, the pale pink areas are where the Devore had gone through the screen. I enjoyed using this technique although it wasn't my favorite I think it would look good with a screen print design on top of the Devore pattern.
