FMP sketchbook experimentation!

Today I was experimenting on different fashion a different fashion illustration technique, using free machining, I chose to use a floral dress from Vivienne Westwoods 2010 Fall collection which Sarah Jessica Parker has been photographed in as my inspiration. I firstly sketched out the design onto cotton using a pencil then sewed round the outline using the needle as my pen and guiding it with the hoop, once the outline was complete I continued to add colour using the colours that were found on the original dress, I made all my sewing rough and textured to make it look like a sketch rather than a peice of embroidery. Once completed I decided to give the illustration some wacky ginger hair just like the fashion genius, Vivienne Westwood! Overall I am ridiculously happy with how this sketch has come out although it was time consuming I feel the end result gives a great result as it includes colour and texture. I am looking forward to using this technique again in the future!
