More Samples.

These are my final three prints, these three featured in this blog post are my least favourite, the first one ((1)) the fabric I used was silk which I decided to dye pink using half a pint of water and 7ml of Red Mx5B then once I decided to print onto the design I used the smallest drop of Black SNG as I wanted to gain a very pale grey colour to make the print look extremely delicate, when I did this process I firstly had to mix my colour wearing gloves as the procian dyes can be irritable when on skin and stain extremely bad this is why aprons should be worn, once I had done the dying stage I then washed the fabric immediately as I wanted a very light pink colour until the water was running clear with no ink left, I then pressed the fabric for 20 seconds at 180 degrees this is to secure the colour in the fabric so that once washed or worn as a garment the colour won't run on to the skin, it also irons the fabric to make it nice and crease free ready for printing.
For my next print I decided to experiment and print onto a fabric I have never used before, chiffon, and after experimenting I have realised I don't wish to use it again in the near future! I firstly dyed the chiffon using half a pint of water mixed with 20ml Orange Mx2r once this was done I once again washed it immediately and got rid of most of the colour so the fabric has only a slight tint of orange, I then repeated the same process of heat pressing as I did for my previous sample then I printed onto the chiffon using Orange G mixed with Yellow 2G and Black SNG, I also got a few problems from this print as the fabric moved about a HUGE amount even though I taped the fabric down very tightly, I feel this is probably one of the worst samples I have created but I learnt a lot from it.
For my final sample, I used Silk Viscose and devoré onto this, once I had printed using devoré paste I had to wait for the sample to dry, once dry I had to heat press the fabric, the devoré turned brown this then had to be washed to remove all of the devoré excess, as if this isn't removed it is extremely irritant when worn as a garment, I then dyed this using half a pint of water mixed with 10ml of blue MXR and 25ml of Red MX2L, I then washed and pressed this sample and then printed my shell and starfish design just off centre of the devoré print to create a shadow print effect using Black SNG, I don't enjoy this sample as much as some of my others as it isn't as experimental as my other samples.
