Today's at home task: Fabric making

This blog post, just before I go to bed, is going to explain what I have explored today, fabric making! This is a technique I have never used before but after doing so I have realised it is a technique that I really enjoyed creating and will most definitely use it some more throughout FMP. I firstly started by collecting scrap pieces of fabric out of my fabric bag I have at home, I then layed them on top of a very thick stiff peice of fabric and sewed my scrap bits of fabric onto it, I used the stiff fabric as I felt when cutting into it it would leave much more clean edges rather than using ordinary cotton or calico. I chose a variation of fabrics in both pattern and texture this was to make the peice more tactile and experiment with what worked the best.
I then created a tracing of a tea pot shape as I planned on creating a page in my sketch book on vintage tea party's, I then stuck the pattern on to the back of the fabric and cut around the tracing paper, once this had been done I quickly stitched around the edges of both the tea pot and the excess fabric I did this so the edges wouldn't stick up or come away from the base fabric, I will keep the excess fabric I created and put it in my technical folder as reference to when I wish to make more fabric making samples/pieces.
Once all this had been done I could then stick the tea pot in my sketch book to go along with my page themed on tea party's using, cotton, printed out images and stamps to make the page a lot more interesting to look at rather than only using flat images, I wrote a short sentence at the bottom of the page just explaining my idea for the page. Here is my completed page:
